We are delighted to have two Rising Star Award winners at Bakers this year.
The Rising Star Awards, run by The Printing Charity, offer a powerful boost for young professionals aged 18–30. These awards support those working in print, paper, packaging, and publishing by offering up to £1,500 to invest in training, development, or professional support.
For example, winners might choose leadership training, technical upskilling, or courses that explore new areas of the industry. As a result, they return to their roles with fresh ideas, confidence, and valuable skills.
The Application Process
The application process is designed to be thoughtful and encouraging. It prompts young professionals to reflect on their current role and future career goals.
To begin, applicants work closely with a manager or senior colleague. Together, they identify which skills to develop and explore the best training providers. Next, the applicant writes a detailed explanation of their training choices, the reasons behind them, and how this development will benefit both their own growth and their team.
If shortlisted, the applicant is invited to a panel interview. This gives them the chance to showcase their motivation, ambition, and passion for progressing within the print industry.
Celebrating Our Team
This year, Clare Coles, our HR Manager, had the honour of joining the judging panel. Although she didn’t judge Baker Labels’ entries, her involvement reflects the strong reputation we’ve built in the industry.
It was extra special this year, having been invited to be one of the judges, and even more rewarding to see two of our own rising stars take home awards Charlotte Carter and Olivia McLaughlin.
There was a real sense of energy in the room, and it’s encouraging to see such enthusiasm from the next generation. Events like this are an important reminder of the value in recognising and supporting emerging talent in our sector.
A Closer Look at Our Winners
Charlotte Carter, Customer Service Representative, will use her grant for Train the Trainer and Leadership and Management courses. These will help her step into a mentoring and leadership role in the future.
Meanwhile, Olivia McLaughlin, Senior PR & Marketing Assistant, will focus on Internal Communication and Digital Marketing Content Creation. Her training will enhance the way we engage with both colleagues and customers.

I’m thrilled to be named a 2025 Rising Star by The Printing Charity. This award isn’t just an honour—it’s an incredible opportunity to deepen my skills in Leadership & Management and Train the Trainer, and continue growing in a field I’m truly passionate about.
