At Baker Labels, we’re incredibly proud to have achieved the Level 3 Working Well Accreditation for the third consecutive year. This recognition reflects our continued commitment to creating a healthy, happy, and supportive workplace for all our staff.

Why Workplace Wellbeing Matters to Us

As a family-run business, we genuinely care about the people who make up our team. We’re building more than just a business, we’re nurturing a workplace community that’s positive, inclusive, and supportive.

We celebrate both the big and little wins, whether it’s a successful project, a personal achievement, or simply showing up with a smile. We believe that when people feel valued, they perform their best and that shines through in the quality of both our products and service.

What is Essex Working Well?

The Essex Working Well programme is a part of the Essex Wellbeing Service, providing free health and wellbeing support to local businesses. Through this initiative, we gain access to a wealth of resources including:

  • Weekly wellbeing newsletters
  • Online workshops and webinars
  • Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training
  • Expert-led sessions on stress, nutrition, menopause, and more

These tools allow us to support our employees across all aspects of their physical and mental wellbeing.

How the Accreditation Process Works

Each year, we complete a detailed action plan and provide evidence of our efforts to support employee wellbeing. In 2025, we were required to demonstrate progress across 21 action points, covering areas such as:

  • Apprenticeship development
  • Charity and community engagement
  • Sustainability and green initiatives
  • Health and lifestyle checks
  • Staff engagement and inclusivity

Each year, the expectations evolve – and so do we.

We are thrilled to be able to award you your 2025 Re-Accreditation – my goodness there is so much amazing evidence of health and wellbeing support.

Initiative Highlights
We’re always looking for ways to evolve and enhance our workplace, and this past year has seen some exciting developments that contributed to our latest reaccreditation.

Sustainability continues to be a key focus. Our building is fitted with low-energy LED lighting, we’ve expanded electric vehicle charging stations for staff and visitors, our fully recyclable MONO pouches in BakPac and made further further progress in reducing landfill waste. These steps support both our environmental goals and our staff’s desire to work for a more eco-conscious business.

Our social events have also grown in popularity. Following feedback from a staff-wide survey, we introduced new activities that brought colleagues together from across departments. Highlights included a Paws In Work day (yes, puppies!) and a creative Paint and Sip evening, both of which were met with great enthusiasm and helped strengthen team bonds.

Our commitments

Our commitment to charity and community engagement remains strong. Team members volunteered their time at events such as SIBS4Fun at SNAP, Kids Inspire’s Christmas wrapping initiative, and hospital visits for POD Children’s Charity. We were also proud to continue as the headline sponsor of the Brentwood Half Marathon, with staff taking part as runners and volunteers. Perhaps most excitingly, we reached a major milestone: over half a million pounds raised for charity since 2011.

On the training and development front, we’ve continued to invest in the future workforce. This includes hosting an Apprenticeship Open Day and celebrating National Apprenticeship Week through internal and external initiatives. Our efforts in skills development were recognised nationally, earning us the “Closing the Skills Gap” award at the Digital Printer Awards.

We’re really proud to have achieved Essex Working Well’s Level 3 accreditation for the third year in a row. We’ve built on the foundations from previous years, introduced new ideas based on staff feedback, and continued to find more ways to support our team and community. It’s a collaborative effort across the business, and it’s so rewarding to see the impact it’s having.
