Bakers’ Managing Director Steve Baker agreed to take on the challenge of the Prudential Ride London 100 mile road race back in November last year but somehow the event has crept up on him…

Okay so here’s the deal, I made a bid at a charity do a while ago whilst slightly buoyed up on a few drinks for a place in the Prudential 100 mile bike ride. Now most people would advise a training plan for something like this to ensure they had the best preparation possible (option A) or to ignore it altogether and hope everyone forgets about it (option B) Unfortunately I went for option B forgetting Kirsty Dailly organised the charity event and is now working for us! I now have 2 and a bit weeks to the event and am about to go on holiday so can’t see much training happening. The only way I can see me completing this is if I have the knowledge that I’m raising money for charity and can’t let my sponsors/charity down. So this is where you come in, please donate and help get me through this!! https://lnkd.in/dhtF8YZ “

Bakers are regular and generous supporters of Georgia’s Teenage Cancer Appeal who support families in Essex who have a child with cancer. The Brentwood based charity was established in 2009 when teenager Georgia Cordery was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called Rhabdomyosarcoma. Her family were able to see the day to day practical and emotional challenges faced by so many families and wanted to help. Whether it’s financial grants to cover regular travel costs to London hospitals or replacing a bed or bath to suit a family’s change in circumstance, GTCA look to help swiftly and with minimum fuss.
