Bakers is delighted to have been shortlisted as a finalist in the Business Process Category at the Stationers’ Innovation Excellence Awards 2026.

The awards celebrate innovation across the communications and content industries, including packaging, print, paper, publishing, stationery and related sectors. As corporate members of the Stationers’ Company, we are especially proud to be recognised among businesses finding new and practical ways to improve how our industries work.

Our shortlisted entry focuses on BakPac, our digital flexible packaging division, and the way it has been developed to give brands a faster, more agile route to market for custom printed pouches, spouted pouches, sachets, printed film and flow wrap.

Re-engineering flexible packaging manufacturing

Traditional flexible packaging has often been built around long lead times, high minimum order quantities and volume-led production. That model does not always suit modern brands, especially those managing fast product launches, multiple SKUs, seasonal campaigns, artwork changes or rapid growth.

BakPac was created to change that.

The innovation is not one single machine or process, but the way the whole manufacturing model has been built around speed, flexibility, scale and quality. By combining high-capacity digital print, advanced pouchmaking, lean workflows, technical material knowledge and customer-focused service, BakPac helps customers move from short-run production through to serious scale without changing supplier.
Customers can order from as low as 500 pouches per SKU through to hundreds of thousands or millions of units, with rapid artwork changes, multiple versions and consistent quality across different run lengths.

Built for brands that need to move quickly

The entry also highlights BakPac’s ability to support customers as they grow. Standard turnaround is typically 7–10 working days, with repeat orders usually produced in 5–7 working days. BakPac has also proven the ability to produce around one million pouches in a week, across short, medium and high-volume work.

Alongside speed and scale, sustainability is an important part of the story. BakPac has developed strong manufacturing experience with recyclable mono-material PP/PP, available in white, silver and clear, which is now used in approximately 80% of jobs.

A proud moment for Bakers

For Bakers, this shortlist is recognition of the investment, commitment and expertise behind BakPac’s growth. It reflects the work of the teams involved across sales, technical, pre-press, digital print, pouchmaking, quality, materials, planning and despatch.

“We’re really proud to see BakPac recognised by the Stationers’ Innovation Excellence Awards. The whole idea behind BakPac is to make flexible packaging work better for modern brands – faster, more responsive and able to scale with them. This shortlist is a great reflection of the team and the work that has gone into building that capability.”

The awards ceremony takes place on Friday 23 October, where the winners will be announced.

Whatever the result on the day, being shortlisted is a brilliant recognition of how far BakPac has come and the part it continues to play in Bakers’ wider manufacturing story.
