We’re looking for a Technical Estimator to join our busy sales estimating team at Baker Labels in Brentwood, Essex. This role would suit someone who is organised, practical, customer-focused and confident handling detail. You’ll be working closely with our Sales and CSR teams, helping to make sure enquiries are quoted accurately, followed up properly and handled with the high level of service Bakers is known for.

About the Role

As a Technical Estimator, you’ll support the sales and customer service teams by preparing accurate quotations for customers and helping to keep enquiries moving through the business efficiently.

This is an important role that sits between customer service, sales and production. You’ll need to understand customer requirements, consider the practical realities of production, and produce quotations that are commercially sensible while still meeting customer expectations.

It’s a role where accuracy matters, but so does communication. You’ll be part of a team that works together to support customers, manage enquiries and help the business win the right kind of work.

What You’ll Be Doing

Preparing Accurate Customer Quotations

A big part of the role will be preparing quotations for customers. These need to be accurate, commercially sound and produced in line with the information supplied.

You’ll help ensure each quote considers the customer’s needs, the production requirements and the best profit margins for the business.

Supporting the Sales and CSR Teams

You’ll work alongside our Sales and CSR teams to provide quotations as required, helping them respond to customer enquiries quickly and professionally.

This will involve clear communication, good organisation and a willingness to support colleagues when needed.

Keeping Enquiries Moving

You’ll help keep the enquiry list up to date on a daily basis, making sure quotes and opportunities are properly recorded and nothing gets missed.

This is a role for someone who likes being organised and enjoys keeping things running smoothly.

Delivering Great Customer Service

Although this is a technical and commercial role, customer service remains a big part of it.

You’ll be interacting with prospective and existing customers, so it’s important that you represent Baker Labels in a helpful, professional and friendly way.

Coordinating Follow-Up

You’ll liaise with the sales team to coordinate follow-up for leads that are suited to our business model.

This means helping make sure the right opportunities are passed on, followed up and supported properly.

Supporting the Estimating Team

You’ll also provide support to other members of the estimating team and assist with other sales and estimating duties when required by the Commercial Manager.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who is accurate, organised and comfortable working with commercial information.

You don’t need to know everything about labels from day one, but you do need to be willing to learn, ask questions and understand how the details affect the finished job.

Skills and Experience That Would Be Useful

This role could suit someone with experience in estimating, customer service, sales support, print, packaging, manufacturing, administration or another role where accuracy and communication are important.

Useful skills include:

• Strong attention to detail
• Good numeracy skills
• Good written and verbal communication
• Strong organisation and time management
• Confidence using office systems
• Ability to work with customer specifications
• A calm and methodical approach to busy workloads
• An interest in print, labels, packaging or manufacturing
• A positive attitude and willingness to learn

Experience in labels, print or packaging would be helpful, but the right attitude, accuracy and commercial awareness are just as important.
