Help Us Take Training at Bakers to the Next Level

At Bakers, we know that great people are at the heart of everything we do. As our business continues to grow, we want to make sure every employee has the knowledge, confidence, and support they need to succeed – from their first day with us and throughout their career.
We’re looking for a Training & Development Specialist to bring structure, consistency, and fresh energy to training across the business. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who loves helping people learn, enjoys creating clear and practical training resources, and wants to make a real difference in how employees develop and progress within the company.

You don’t need to come from a print or packaging background. The technical knowledge already exists within our team. What we’re looking for is someone who can work with people, organise information, create structure, and turn knowledge into training that is clear, useful, and engaging.

About the Role

The purpose of the Training & Development Specialist role is to strengthen how we train and develop our people across Bakers.
You’ll help lift the Baker Academy to a new level by creating structured training programmes, supporting new starters, working with department heads and technical specialists, and helping employees build the skills they need to progress.
This role is ideal for someone who is organised, proactive, people-focused, and confident communicating with colleagues across different departments and levels of the business.

What You’ll Be Doing

Developing Structured Training Programmes

A key part of this role will be building and organising clear training pathways for operational roles across the business.

You’ll work closely with technical specialists, supervisors, managers, and department heads to capture best practice, standard operating methods, and existing knowledge. From there, you’ll help turn that knowledge into practical, easy-to-follow training content that can be used consistently across the company.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Building and organising structured training programmes for operational roles
• Working with technical specialists and department heads to capture best practice
• Turning operational knowledge into clear, structured training materials
• Creating onboarding pathways for new starters across different departments
• Collating existing training documents and developing new learning materials
• Creating guides, visual aids, SOPs, and other training resources
• Keeping training content accurate, consistent, and up to date
• Helping create consistent standards for how employees are trained across the business

Supporting New Starters and Onboarding

Starting a new role can be exciting, but it can also be a lot to take in. As our Training & Development Specialist, you’ll help make the onboarding process smoother, clearer, and more consistent for new employees.
Working alongside supervisors and managers, you’ll support new starters as they learn about the company, their department, our systems, and how the wider business works.

This will include:
• Supporting the onboarding experience for new employees
• Delivering training on company structure, departments, processes, systems, and standards
• Helping new starters understand how the wider business operates
• Monitoring trainee progress and confidence during onboarding
• Identifying employees who may need extra support
• Adapting training where needed to help people succeed

Who We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who is confident working with people, enjoys creating structure, and has a genuine interest in helping others learn and develop.

Print and packaging knowledge is not essential for this role. What matters most is your ability to communicate clearly, organise information, support people, and create training that works in a real business environment.

The ideal candidate will be:
• Organised and proactive
• Confident working with people across all levels of the business
• A clear and effective communicator
• Comfortable gathering information from different teams
• Able to turn complex information into simple, practical guidance
• Supportive, patient, and encouraging
• Confident managing training plans and documentation
• Passionate about helping people learn and progress

We’re particularly interested in people with skills in:
• Teaching
• Coaching
• Training delivery
• Organising information
• Creating structure
• Communicating clearly
• Supporting learning and development
• Helping others build confidence and skills
