Bakers Welcomes Connaught School for Girls for Careers Visit
Bakers was delighted to welcome staff and Year 9 pupils from Connaught School for Girls to our Brentwood site for an introduction to Bakers and the world of print and packaging.
The visit formed part of a Careers Hub East Modern Work Experience initiative and followed an introduction through Young People in Print & Packaging (YPIPP). It was a fantastic opportunity to open our doors and give students a behind-the-scenes look at the skills, processes and career pathways within our industry.
After an introduction to Baker Labels, BakPac and Baker Materials, the pupils were given a full factory tour, exploring the print and production processes that bring labels, flexible packaging and materials to life. They then took part in a short quiz to test their knowledge – impressing the team with how much they had taken in – before asking two members of staff about their working lives at Bakers.
Clare Coles, who organised the visit, said: “The students were a credit to the school: engaged, well-behaved, and keen to learn. It was fantastic to introduce them to the world of print and give them a behind-the-scenes look at how everything comes together.
“Great to be part of this initiative with Careers Hub East London, helping to inspire the next generation and showcase the opportunities within our industry.”
A big thank you to Careers Hub East, Connaught School for Girls and YPIPP for helping to make the visit possible, and to Nikki Southgate, Gemma Poxon, Charlie Vickers, Kirsty Dailly and Tom Baker for supporting the day.
At Bakers, we are passionate about encouraging young people to explore the wide range of opportunities available in print, packaging, manufacturing and business.
Visits like this are a brilliant way to show students that our industry is creative, technical, fast-moving and full of potential.
We look forward to welcoming more young people to Bakers in the future.
