Football for Men’s Mental Health Charities

FC Bakers were victorious winners at a Brentwood charity 6-a-side football tournament on Saturday 15th July. Having finished top of the league with an impressive goal difference of +14 and only conceding 2 goals in the 5 game group stage, they had to go to a sudden death penalty shoot out in the final against Merrymeade to seal the deal.

It was a great afternoon of football, all played in good spirits but still with a high level of competition. Bakers FC played in the Men’s Open Category but there were also categories for Men’s Vets and also a higher main level for club players. Despite the crazy windy conditions, the games were entertaining with plenty goals and friendly support between oppositions.

The well organised, friendly event was organised by Bennetts Funeral Directors in support of men’s mental health and suicide prevention. Two local charities were supported at the event, The Craig Tyler Trust and Andy’s Man Club. Both charities aim to prevent suicide amongst men and offer support and safe spaces to talk.

Following the event, Baker Labels has made donations of £1000 to Bennetts for both charities to support their continued work in the local community.
