Challenging events for Team Bakers

In 2022, employees at Baker Labels, along with families and friends will be taking part in a range of challenges and activities to keep us all active and motivated. They will also provide us with good team building and wellbeing opportunities as well as giving us a chance to raise funds for charity.

For many of our team, these events will push them out of their comfort zones. Knowing that they will be doing it for SNAP will give them that extra mile, extra metre, extra step on the ladder over a muddy obstacle.

Having completed the Sportstiks Brentwood Half Marathon and Fun Run in March, our next challenge was the Nuclear Races muddy obstacle run in May.

Award winning place to work

Baker Labels won the Essex Active Workplace of the Year award in 2021 due to the importance that the company places on our staff’s wellbeing, especially their physical and mental health. We are also Brentwood’s Employers of the Year 2021 with staff often encouraged to take part in charity work.

As a company we have donated over £137,000 to various local charities in the last 5 years, including SNAP (Special Needs and Parents). Supporting local charity and community events has been a longstanding commitment for the Baker family.

“What a day!”

The sun was shining on Saturday 14th May, making the mud and the murky water almost pleasant. Our team joined the 10.40am wave and after an enthusiastic warm up we jogged into the fields and straight into a muddy ditch. Start as you mean to go on!

It didn’t take long before our team had divided into two or three factions. Those that were fearless and fit, then those that were…perhaps not so much. Obstacles included crawling through pipes, climbing walls and nets and of course the Death Slide.

What’s Next for Team Bakers?

The next challenge we are facing is to complete the National Three Peaks in September. Our team will be attempting to climb Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon in 24 hours in September. Watch this space…

Please show us some support by donating to our JustGiving Page for SNAP Charity.

This is something I’d wanted to do for a long time. It looked fun! The best bit was the finish line…I found it really hard but would definitely recommend it. Everybody helped each other over obstacles and waited for each other. It was  great feeling of achievement when we finished.

Thoroughly enjoyed the mud run! The event encourages teamwork and builds comradery. I will definitely will be doing it again. The best bit for me was the Death slide and of course the  burger at the end.
